Jake Schaper
Residential Counselor
BS: Music, North Park University
Jake was born and raised in Chicago, IL, where he attended North Park University to study Vocal Performance. After college, Jake and one of his best friends decided they wanted to follow their passions for the outdoors and relocated to North Lake Tahoe to pursue careers in the ski industry. Through his seven years of working his way up to management at Palisades Tahoe, Jake observed a dire need for substance use disorder and mental health support within the Tahoe Basin’s community. Inspired by his dedication to recovery, Jake shifted his career trajectory, returned to school to obtain an Associate’s degree in Addiction Studies, and became credentialed as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. Prior to Lake Tahoe Preparatory School, Jake worked at a private residential drug and alcohol treatment center in South Lake Tahoe and with the Tahoe unhoused population, providing counseling to some of the area’s most vulnerable community members. Returning to his California roots in Olympic Valley, Jake looks forward to helping the adolescent demographic at LTP develop sound foundations for growth and purpose in their promising futures.
When he's not working, Jake spends most of his time with his three-year-old daughter, Violet. He also enjoys fishing, hiking, biking, kayaking, skiing, playing hockey, and writing songs.
