Outdoor Adventure

Lake Tahoe Preparatory School encourages physical activity and experiential activities.  Being active and participating in group/individual sports support positive mental health for all students.  Yoga, soccer, bicycling, hiking, running, snowboarding, snow skiing, rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, and backcountry camping are examples of physical activities available to our students.  Each year, all students attend two five-day trips that are safe, challenging adventures.

All students must participate in Outdoor Education Week, a core component of educating the whole student. By participating in outdoor education, LTP students learn to respect themselves, their peers, and the natural world around them.

Self-reliance and compassion are important steps to improving leadership skills, communication, and problem-solving, which we champion year-round. Students return from Outdoor Education Week with a new perspective. They recognize the power within themselves to overcome adversity, and when to ask for, as well as provide, help. Students come to know themselves on an intrinsic level.
