Ski Programs
Ski Racing – Competitive
Lake Tahoe Preparatory School and Palisades Tahoe Ski Team strive to impact and better the lives of student-athletes by developing in them the skills needed for a successful future. Through our creed – We will train hard, train smart, and train together--we establish a team of competitive, hard-working, responsible athletes.
Lake Tahoe Preparatory School has partnered with Palisades Tahoe Ski Resort and the Palisades Tahoe Ski Team to offer a program tailored for student-athletes training and competing at a higher level. We have created a flexible schedule to integrate the rigorous demands of a skier’s preparation and race schedule with college-preparatory academics.
To help integrate our student-athletes into the larger school community, their fall semester schedule will closely mirror that of our non-athletes, attending five classes in the morning, with the daily performance program and equipment preparation taking the place of afternoon activities. During the spring semester, skiers will attend four classes in the morning, followed by afternoon training.
While traveling for competition, students will keep on top of their academic commitments with the help from designated travel tutors, personal MacBook Airs with eBooks, digitized assignments and monitored study halls.
Our Interim and Summer School sessions are additional resources terrific options for students who want to earn credits in advance or need to remediate grades. Plus, the dates allow skiers to still attend Palisades Tahoe Ski Team’s on-snow training camp in New Zealand.
With an eye on our skiers’ comprehensive health, we recognize that athletes establish the full range of motion for safety, mobility, joint stability, and muscular development. We aim to correct and address all imbalances before problems occur. Motor unit recruitment, central nervous system stimulus, and muscular fatigue are taken into account for training programming. The Palisades Tahoe Ski Team works very hard to reduce the risk of injury and the severity of potential injuries while maximizing skill development and performance.
