Most high schools stuff 30 kids into every classroom and hope for the best. At our college prep high school, the biggest class has seven students. That's not marketing speak; it changes everything about how education works.

Walk into our Academic Learning Center any afternoon and you'll see what personalized learning actually looks like. Students might be working on calculus problems in small groups, or getting one-on-one help with essay outlines that are projected on the board in large, bold lettering.

Students spend one period daily in our Academic Learning Center, and it becomes their home base for academic support. For students with dysgraphia who need to hear text read aloud, we project reading material in large, bold letters while reading together. For students working on essays, we create visual outlines on whiteboards and work through the writing process step by step.

Most high schools handle college counseling in the senior year when panic sets in about applications. We start freshman year when students still have time to actually shape their high school experience around their goals.

Our college counselors don't just help fill out applications when the time comes. They spend four years assisting students to explore their interests, understand different career paths, and figure out what kinds of colleges are a good fit.

Students build impressive resumes not by padding them with meaningless activities, but by getting involved in things they genuinely care about. They develop leadership skills through authentic experiences, not just titles on paper.

When senior year arrives, students aren't scrambling to figure out their college essays. They're writing about experiences they've actually had and interests they've genuinely developed.
