Health and Wellness

The health and well-being of Lake Tahoe Prep Students is of the highest priority.  We encourage healthy growth and development inside and outside of the classroom, from study hall and extra help to nutritious eating, vigorous physical activity, good sleep habits, and technology-free time.

Our staff are trained to assess our students health and wellness on an ongoing basis. Lake Tahoe Preparatory School is able to issue prescription medications to students per doctor’s orders. We can also issue over the counter medications as needed, but we do not allow students to keep over the counter medications, prescription medications, or supplements in their dormitory rooms.

When students feel ill, they report to staff before breakfast so that staff can attend to their needs. If students do not feel well enough to attend classes or present an elevated temperature, they are taken to our local medical group, Truckee Tahoe Medical Group, where they are assessed by medical personnel. In the event of an emergency, Lake Tahoe Prep staff will do our best to transport a student to the Tahoe Forest Hospital Emergency Room for immediate treatment. Lake Tahoe Prep is conveniently located next door to the Squaw Valley Fire Department, which is staffed 24 hours a day with paramedics. We follow a strict concussion protocol for head injuries and work with the Tahoe Center of Sports Performance to assess students that experience head injuries.

Students may continue any type of medical care they have been receiving before attending Lake Tahoe Prep, such as dentists, orthodontics, dermatologists, physical therapy, chiropractic adjustments, etc.
