Criteria for Services

Lake Tahoe Preparatory School’s commitment to therapeutic support ensures that all students receive the attention and direction they need and deserve. With numerous forms of counseling and care from certified /licensed experts, we ensure that our students have the tools they need to overcome any obstacles they may encounter on their journeys.  We utilize a treatment team approach to case management and have weekly residential life meetings and trainings to continually address our students’ needs.


Following are some behaviors/diagnoses we work with, but do not indicate a comprehensive overview.

Inclusionary criteria:

  • ADHD and some other neurodiverse diagnoses
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • School refusal
  • Learning differences
  • Low self esteem
  • Executive functioning deficits
  • Self-isolation
  • School avoidance
  • Low motivation
  • Mild substance use
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder, Level I

Exclusionary criteria:

  • High Run Risk
  • Oppositional Defiant Disorder
  • Conduct Disorder
  • Significant Substance Use/Addictions
  • Actively Suicidal
  • Active Eating Disorder or Self-harm
  • Highly manipulative
  • Predatory or Violent behavior
  • Struggling with psychosis
